Community Connectors Project

Whitworth Men’s Shed is open for any adult men who live in and around Whitworth.  The ‘Shed’ is provided as a place to chat to other guys and either get involved in projects, or just enjoy a brew and a biscuit!

For some, the shed provides a welcome relief from anxiety, depression, low confidence, low self-esteem and other social, emotional and practical needs.  The Shed is a non-judgemental, relaxed and supportive space for anyone who wants to be a member.

Sometimes – especially for anyone who has become accustomed to social isolation and loneliness, it is difficult to make that first visit.  That is where the Community Connectors Project comes in.

Community Connectors help people access a range of local, non-medical services, like Whitworth Mens Shed.  They can spend time with you each week and support you to get involved and engaged in activities, events and community services as well as keeping you informed of what’s going on in your community.

It is recognised that isolation and loneliness can have a serious impact on your health and that regular social activity can tackle this and create a lasting positive impact on your wellbeing.

You can access the project’s services by contacting one of the Community Connector Coordinators on 01282 433740 or by emailing connectors@bprcvs.co.uk.  They will be more than happy to help.  If you have a friend or family member that you think would benefit, why not tell them about the support that is available?
