Visit to Oswestry Men’s Shed

On Thursday 14th March 2019 a carload of shedders from Whitworth headed two hours South along the M6 in response to an invite from Oswestry Men’s Shed to visit them.

The Oswestry Mens Shed has been established since 2014 when they were able to secure a plot of land at the Oswestry showground.  Funding from a local philanthropist covered the costs of the materials required to build their own shed – footings and all, from the ground up!  They now have three buildings providing woodworking, metalworking and social spaces and are planning a fourth

We were made really welcome and had a great time chatting to their members about their projects.  It was really energising to hear about their experiences and the journey taken by another group.   It’s been really helpful exercise to visit other groups and we would recommend it to any group or organisation looking to set up their own Shed.

We look forward to staying in touch with our new friends and hopefully receiving them to the Whitworth Men’s Shed in future!
