Vital Local Shed Supported by Mayors Charity Fund

The Shed was one of several “vital local groups” that gratefully received donations from the Mayor of Whitworth’s Charity Fund. Presentations were made at the Annual Meeting of the Parish last Thursday 9th May.

Members of the Shed Committee were presented with a cheque for £125 by the retiring Mayor of Whitworth, Councillor Mike Royds. The meeting was told that during his time in office, the Mayor raised funds for the Mayor’s Charity Fund and he “was delighted to be able to bequeath to such vital local groups”.

Committee members Gerard Hinchliffe, Steve Haigh, Ken Rowell, and Jim Duncan represented the Shed at the meeting.

The shed would like to thank the Mayor for the generous donation which will help to ensure the continued delivery of activities for local men.

Please come and visit our Open Day on 9th June if you are interested in finding out more about Whitworth Mens Shed, and how to get involved!

Whitworth Men’s Shed is a community group for men.  It is a social space where men can come and get involved in practical activities or just have a chat over a brew! The need for a Men’s Sheds project in Whitworth was identified after a series of consultation events held in 2017 by Rossendale Borough Council.
