Connect to the free wi-fi! Have you got a smart-phone? Once you’ve taken the weight off and sorted out a cup of tea or coffee make sure you don’t forget to connect your device to our free wi-fi network and save your data! We have two networks that should be visible in your phone’s list of available connections: WMS Public – doesn’t require a password and is accessible to the general public within range of the shed WMS Members – you will need a password to connect to this network. …

Precious Plastic 17-12-18
The group had planned to source a sufficiently heavy-duty cutting assembly and motor for the plastic shredding machine. However, our attention has shifted to evaluating an alternative machine to chop up waste plastic! We have been experimenting with an old office paper shredder to see how it performs when fed old milk bottles etc. On the face of it we did not expect it to do very well but we were pleasantly surprised. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been given that it was advertised as being able to handle old CD’s…

More ...Things to do at the Shed #1
Have a brew! First things first, the number one thing to do at the Shed is have a brew! Whether it’s tea or coffee (or something fruity or just hot water!) most activities at the Shed start, end and are regularly punctuated with a cuppa. Wait to be asked or dive in and help yourself – it’s free and so are the biscuits! Just don’t forget to pop a small donation towards the costs in the donation tin every now and again 🙂
More ...Project: Tube Bender
This awesome bit of kit should be able to bend up to 2″ pipe 180°. Unfortunately at the moment it only has enough oomph to get to 45° and needs a bit of tlc to restore it to it’s former glory. Many thanks to Phil for this generous donation.
More ...Project: Bench Grinder
This is a wonderful donation from one of our supporters. This beautiful old beast has clearly given many years of faithful service – and there is plenty of life left in the old dog yet. We intend to give this Black & Decker 10″ Ball Bearing Bench Grinder a good clean up, fix the faulty electrics, add some guards and maybe even give it a new lick of paint. Thanks Phil!

This week the group have been assessing the component parts required for the first of the four machines, the shredder. We have sourced a metal frame that will serve as the solid base for the motor and cutting assembly and it didn’t cost us a penny! Thanks Dave for the donation, it is much appreciated! The component parts of the first machine fall into three main groups; the frame and structure, the motor and electrics and the cutting assembly. The group are confident of sourcing the rest of the structural…
More ...Come and find out more!
The ‘Planning Committee’ is our weekly social drop-in and catch-up session. Far from being a formal meeting it is actually a talking shop where WMS members find out about what has been going on, and what is being planned for the future. Other subjects that might be up for discussion might include what the various activity groups have been up to, or if there is a topical health awareness campaign to draw attention to. All of this takes place against a back-drop of brew-drinking, biscuit dunking and your pick of…
